One of only 275 9mm Parabellum Lugers manufactured by Mauser under contract for Sweden. It is thought that these Lugers were acquired by Sweden not for issue, but rather for test purposes. The receiver is marked "1938" over with chamber with Mauser Oberndorf crown over "U" proof stamps being present on the left-hand side of the receiver, breechblock, and front sight base. Toggle is marked with the Mauser banner logo. Safety is marked "GESICHERT" and extractor is marked "GELADEN". Receiver is fitted with its proper 4 - 3/4" barrel. Major metal components are blued, with smaller components being strawed and nitre blued. Matching numbers include the frame, locking bolt, trigger, safety lever and bar, hold-open latch, barrel, receiver, trigger bar, breechblock, firing pin, toggles, receiver axle, checkered walnut grips, as well as the magazine. CONDITION: Metal components retain bountiful amounts of their original blue finish, exhibiting little wear aside from several concentrated areas of rust on the frame beneath the grip panels, and some light freckling all around. Strawed components show varying degrees of thinning, with the balance on most strawed components turning a gray patina. Bright and shiny bore, exhibiting signs of oxidation on the lands and within the grooves and retaining well-defined rifling throughout. Checkered walnut grips exhibit some diamond point wear and show a few chipped diamonds. A very nice example of an extremely limited production of Mauser Lugers made under contract for Sweden that would make for a fine and rare addition to the advanced collector's ensemble. -MLW-
