Manufactured in 1918, this Luger started life as a Model 1914 Navy Luger, and was later reworked in accordance with the Treaty of Versailles in 1920. Rebuilt and reblued during the rework process, this example's frame was renumbered, with its receiver, barrel, and breechblock bearing DWM arsenal proofs. The rear of the grip strap exhibits a Weimar Navy "M" over an anchor stamp above "N753", indicating issue to the Nordsee 753 (North Sea 753). Toggle bears the DWM monogram. Matching numbers include the frame, locking bolt, sideplate, trigger, safety lever, safety bar, receiver, barrel, trigger bar, receiver axle, toggles, breechblock, extractor, and firing pin. Grips are unnumbered and retain a "Z" on the interior of the left panel. Magazine does not match and is marked with an "X" over "N1837". CONDITION: Metal components retain pleasant amounts of their arsenal reapplied blue finish, exhibiting areas of wear that show through to pleasing patina. Bore is bright, exhibiting light pitting and well-defined lands and grooves throughout. Checkered walnut grips show some smoothing and some marks from use. Right grip panel exhibits a crack on the bottom around the grip screw. A very nice German World War I reworked Navy Luger that was issued to the Weimar Navy. -MLW-
