This is a seldom seen Luger variation that was one of the first Luger pistols manufactured at the Mauser factory. These early 1934 commercial Lugers were manufactured from a combination of leftover parts and components from DWM as well as newly manufactured parts by Mauser. The chamber area is blank, with the toggles retaining the "DWM" monogram and a high polish blue finish. Early large Mauser Oberndorf crown over "U" proof is present on the receiver and bottom of barrel, with a standard crown over "U" proof on the breechblock. Matching numbers include the frame, locking bolt, trigger, sideplate, barrel, and rear toggle link, which are matched in the commercial fashion. Checkered walnut grips and stainless steel magazine are unmarked. Features include an all blue finish (with some smaller components being nitre blued and strawed), 4" 9mm barrel, dovetailed inverted-V front sight, V-notched rear sight, and a stock lug. CONDITION: Metal components retain bountiful amounts of their original blue finish, exhibiting few and minor areas of wear. Toggles appear to have been touched up, with the rear toggle possibly being renumbered to match. Strawed components retain pleasant amounts of their original finish, exhibiting some wear and thinning. Mirror bore, with well-defined lands and grooves throughout. Checkered walnut grips show some light smoothing and a few areas with nicks to the diamonds. A fine condition specimen of a seldom seen and exceptionally desirable Luger for the discerning collector's ensemble. -MLW-
