One of 2,000 Model 1914 Commercial Lugers manufactured at DWM in 1913. This example's serial number of "72376" places it in the middle of the 1914 Commercial serial range of 71500-73500. Chamber is blank, with the "DWM" monogram on the toggle. Crown over "N" proofs visible on the receiver, breechblock, forward toggle link, and barrel. Features include rust blue finish, with several strawed and nitre blued components, 4" round barrel, stock lug, checkered walnut grips, and a V-notch rear sight with dovetailed inverted V-front sight. All matching numbers, which are stamped in the commercial fashion, with the exception of the breechblock and rear toggle which are likely renumbered to match. Grips, magazine, hold-open latch, and forward toggle link are unserialized. Bluing appears to be an older refinish. Complete with an unmarked leather holster. CONDITION: Metal components retain bountiful amounts of their reapplied blue finish, exhibiting a few minor areas of wear, some light freckling, and a few nicks beneath the finish. Strawed components show some wear and age-related discoloration. Bore is bright, but shows pitting on the lands and grooves and retains fair rifling throughout. Checkered walnut grips show some smoothing to diamonds, as well as several nicks and indentations. Holster is good, showing some age cracking and scattered handling marks. A nice example of the last commercial Luger variation manufactured before the Great War. -MLW-
