French St. Etienne production Mitrailleuse palm pistol. Made 1880's to 1890's at the St. Etienne arsenal in France. Barrel is marked "MITRAILLEUSE" on the top behind the front sight bead. Right side of the frame is marked "MAUFACTURE FRANCAISE/D'ARMES DE ST ETIENNE". Sliding dust cover is unmarked. Matching numbers on the internal parts and right side plate. Round, rifled steel barrel with a rib and bead front sight. Frame has serrations on the front with nice engraving on most of the flat surfaces. Nickel finish with case hardened internal parts. Hard wood grip with checkering. Grip is numbered "2157" on the left side. CONDITION: Metal retains 90% of its original finish with mild wear and handling marks. Clean bore with sharp rifling. Mechanically fine. JWA
