Standard configuration P.08 Luger manufactured by Mauser for commercial sales. Receiver is marked "1939" over the chamber. Left side of receiver, breechblock, and front of sight base bear crown over "U" proofs. Faux eagle "K" proof is present on the right side of the receiver. Front grip strap is engraved "Lt. Edward M. Ryan/ S.N. 0-1262177". Frame serial number has been ground down and renumbered at some point in time, with matching numbers being renumbered to match the frame. Metal components have been reblued, with the frame appearing to be an older refinish. CONDITION: Metal components retain the majority of their reapplied blue finishes, showing some areas of wear overall as well as thinning and some light surface oxidation on the grip straps that show through to brown patina. Bore shows oxidation throughout and retains good rifling. Grips show some smoothing and scattered nicks to the diamonds. MLW
