Spencer Model 1865 lever action repeating rifle with correct 20" barrel marked "M.1865." Chambered in .56-50 Spencer carbine. Standard flip up military volley rear sight with standard front sight. Marked "SPENCER REPEATING RIFLE CO. BOSTON MASS. PAT'D MARCH 6 1860" on receiver at breech. Plain walnut stock and forearm with saddle ring and carbine style iron buttplate with magazine in the rear. Stock is faintly marked "Arion Saxton" by right action plate. CONDITION: Good with finish faded to a mottled gray-brown patina overall. Stock and forearm are fair with dents and dings from heavy use and have been refinished. Large crack all the way through stock near buttplate and crack on left and right side by saddle ring. Barrel band appears to have been soldered back together after being broken at some point on bottom. Action works correctly. Bore is dark with visible 6 groove rifling. -TN-
