Made in Providence, Rhode Island by the Burnside Rifle Company, this third model percussion carbine has a blued barrel with flip up rear sight and fixed front. Case hardened receiver marked "Burnside Patent March 25th 1856" and lock marked "Burnside Rifle Co. Providence, RI". Action has saddle ring on slide bar. Walnut stock with crescent steel buttplate, sling swivel and illegible inspectors marks. Walnut forearm with band. CONDITION: Overall aged patina with metal turning a dark silvery patina. Wood has traces of original finish with heavy usage marks typical of combat use. Shootable bore with good mechanics. DLM
CORRECTION: After further inspection, it has been found that this Burnside carbine is a Fifth Model, not a Third Model as previously stated.
