While unmarked, the style of the armor is extremely reminiscent of Anton Peffenhauser of Augsburg. Raised roped comb on helm which has 2 lames at neck. Visor, plume holder, and lames a later replacement. Arm defenses are composite with heart shaped couters period, but other pieces probably later Victorian replacements; pauldrons of three lames, gauntlets with five lames. Gorget with 5 lames a later Victorian addition. Gauntlets with roped borders and 5 lames, 1 set of lames replacement. Breastplate with simple line repousse at chest and roped borders, raised medial ridge. Tassets of 7 lames, bottom lame roped, with chainmail backing of Eastern manufacture. Leg defenses are good with roped borders at greaves, fan plates, and sabatons, which have 9 lames. Attractively mounted on an articulated body on a raised and moulded hardwood stand with raised panels on each side. CONDITION: Very good. Suit has been gently cleaned and polished and shows very light polishing marks. 1 rivet at tasset is absent. Parts have an extremely attractive homogenous appearance. Some rivets and straps are professionally replaced. This is an extremely attractive and well-mounted full suit of armor. EW
