Contract Model of 1865 built by the Burnside Rifle Company, Providence, Rhode Island and one of 34,000 made. Blued round barrel with six groove rifling and ladder rear sight and blade front. Case hardened receiver with "Model 1865" and "Spencer Repeating PatD March 6, 1860 Manuf'd at Prov. RI By Burnside Rifle Co". Gun has Stabler cut-off and slide bar with saddle ring. Walnut wood stock with magazine tube in butt and no visible cartouches. Walnut forearm with iron band. CONDITION: Barrel blue turning a plum patina with shootable bore. Action turning a silvery patina with some freckling. Wood has traces of varnish with small chip out of behind lower tang and usual usage marks and dings. Missing sling swivel. DLM
