1888 vintage Winchester Model 1885 Low Wall rifle, serial number 28348. 24" octagon barrel. Blue with case hardened frame, lever, hammer, and buttplate. Plain straight grain walnut stock and forearm. Breech of barrel marked on left flat: "REBORED & RIFLED/BY J.B. STEVENS A&T CO./CHICOPEE FALLS MASS. U.S.A." Original chambering marked on top flat is .22 short. Chamber now accepts .25 Stevens. CONDITION: Very fine with 80-85% original blue on barrel with scattered dings and dents. Case color has turned a nickel patina. Stock and forearm have been refinished with 95% reapplied finish remaining. Light stress crack on right side at the wrist. Bore is excellent. Action is tight and crisp. -MKS-
