Classic Griffin & Howe customized Winchester Model 70, bolt action rifle. Built on a 1960 vintage Winchester Model 70 action. 24" round barrel with high ramp hooded front sight, and no rear barrel sight. Chambered in 7 mm Remington Magnum. Barrel is marked: "MADE ESPECIALLY FOR ALEX HOCHNER JR. NO. 2601 GRIFFIN & HOWE, NEW YORK, N.Y." Fitted with Lyman receiver sight, and detachable Griffin & Howe side mount with Leupold Vari-X III 3.5-10 variable power scope. Select grain checkered walnut stock with crossbolt and forearm with ebony tip. Hand engraved scroll grip cap. Checkered steel buttplate with trapdoor housing receiver sight aperture. Checkered 5-panel bolt handle with hand engraved flower blossom. Engine turned bolt and follower. Classic scroll hand engraved hinged floorplate and trigger guard. CONDITION: Excellent with 97% blue on barrel. Action is a grey brown patina. 90% blue on bolt handle. 90+% blue on floorplate and trigger guard. Bore is bright. Action is tight. Trigger is crisp. Wood is excellent showing modest wear. Optics are clear. -MKS-
