Rare Dan M. LeFever side cocker "E" Grade side by side hammerless shotgun. The first successful hammerless shotgun in the United States with less than 700 known to exist. Damascus steel barrels with smooth concave rib marked "DM Lefever Maker and Patentee Syracuse, NY" and bead front sight. Case hardened sidecocker action with scroll engraving and Lefever patent dates. Large side lever for cocking the gun on the left hand side. Gun has cocking indicators, double triggers and extractors. LeFever thumb opening lever. Walnut checkered pistol grip stock with steel grip cap and hard rubber widow's peak buttplate. Checkered walnut splinter forearm with hidden push button release and ebony inlay. CONDITION: Metal turning a silvery patina with visible Damascus finish. 50% of original piano style varnish with light handling marks. Good bores and mechanics. DLM
