A point of debate for Luger collectors in the collector genre, the meaning of the "Kü" stamp has never been definitely proven. Several theories have been presented as to the "Kü" markings significance, with the most widely accepted theory being that these Lugers were manufactured by Mauser for the Kustenfliegerstafflen (German Coastal Flying Service). This example is marked "41" over the chamber, with the toggle bearing Mauser's "42" code. Left side of frame bears a "Kü" prefix, with large digit serial numbers. Faint eagle "LZA" Luftwaffenzeugamt (Air Force Ordnance Depot) proofs are present on the right side of the receiver, left side of the barrel, and left side of the breechblock. Bottom of barrel bears a Mauser "S/42" armorer's replacement code stamp. Left side of frame is stamped "P.08". Matching numbers include the frame, sideplate, safety lever & bar, receiver, trigger bar, extractor, firing pin, forward toggle link, and checkered walnut grips, which are matched on the interior of the right grip panel. Remaining components are unnumbered. Metal components have been reblued, retaining a mixture of finishes. Complete with a blued "fxo" marked magazine with a black plastic bottom. CONDITION: Metal components retain the vast majority of their reapplied blue finishes, showing a few small areas with nicks and wear, indentations below the finish, as well as several areas of freckling. Markings are sharp, with the exception of the "LZA" proofs and the "S/42" proof. Bore is bright, showing light oxidation within the lands and some very light oxidation on the grooves, but otherwise retains good rifling throughout. Checkered walnut grips are worn smooth, showing some scattered impressions and a few minor losses around the edges. A nice example of a Mauser "Kü" marked P.08. MLW
