Sword of typical Confederate manufacture, type often referred to as a "Corn Pone" or "Dog River" saber. Three branch brass guard with wooden grip wrapped in leather secured by copper wire, slightly curved blade has a single fuller extending to within 10" of the tip. Incorrect scabbard produced for a Model 1840 imported cavalry saber, ring mounts are painted gold. CONDITION: Blade is mostly grey with areas of dark staining but clean and undamaged. Leather wrapped grip shows wear but is intact with tight copper wire wrap. Brass guard with typical minor dents and scratches. Scabbard is grey with dark areas and a few minor dents. DG
