Brain tanned hide with heavy fringe on sides, bottom and down the outer sleeves. Overlaid over the shoulders and across the sleeves are beaded strips, beaded on canvas and applied with cotton thread. The bead colors are white, dark blue, gold and light blue. The two applied disks, one in front and one on the back have a geometric design. The bead colors on these are white, dark blue, green and pink. Short fringed collar with red piping applied in a zigzag pattern. Purportedly, the shirt was acquired by the Browning Museum from the original family. It was then liquidated when the Museum closed in 1980 and was returned to the Blackfoot family in Nanton, Alberta, Canada. The shirt was subsequently traded to a rustic furniture maker in Northern, Montana. We are unable to verify this information. CONDITION: The shirt shows very little use, the leather is supple and pliable. One little spot of bead loss on the right sleeve. REW
