No. 4 MK I rifle manufactured by Birmingham Small Arms in 1944, converted to a No. 4 MK I (T) variation, likely by Holland & Holland. Left side of receiver socket is marked "M47C/ 1944/ B39926" above "TR", indicating that this rifle's accuracy was found suitable to be converted into the (T) sniper variation. Left side of the receiver does not retain its "T" stamp and the addition of a sling swivel modification just ahead of the magazine well is not present. This is likely one of the remaining 3,400 rifles that were not complete by Holland & Holland at the end of their contract in 1946. Bottom of buttstock is marked "S51". Rear sight has been ground down to allow clearance of the scope. Matching numbers include the receiver and the bolt. Magazine appears to be a forced match. No visible import stamps. CONDITION: Metal components retain the vast majority of their reapplied finishes, exhibiting some wear all around, and some silvering around the scope mounts on the receiver. Bore is bright and exhibits some minor pitting. Action is smooth and locks up tightly. Stock shows some dings and handling marks but bears clear arsenal stampings all around. -MLW-
