France, Ca. 1880s. Pretty bisque socket head red stamped “Depose Tete Jumeau Bte SGDG 6” (3/4” red factory surface firing line above ear). Dark brown multi-stroked eyebrows, blue paperweight eyes with large pupils and threaded irises, painted upper and lower eyelashes, pierced ears with earrings, closed mouth with lip shading strokes, chin dimple, cork pate, curly blonde mohair wig. Original Jumeau jointed composition and wood body with Jumeau label, jointed shoulders, wrists, hips, and knees with original neck spring. Totally original in aqua silk brocade dress with lace trim and maroon “Bebe Jumeau” ribbon armband, attached slip and original crisp matching underwear. Matching hat with ribbon, lace and feather trim, original blue openwork socks and blue silk shoes with gold Jumeau stamp. Seldom does an all-original doll of this quality and in this wonderful condition come up for sale. This doll was brought to America around 1890 by her childhood owner Esther Sackerman aboard ship and purchased from one of her descendants.
