Lot consists of: (A) Japanese Type 30 Hook Safety rifle manufactured by Koishikawa between 1898-1905. Receiver is marked with Japanese characters stipulating the model and is marked with the Japanese chrysanthemum over the chamber. Left side of the receiver is marked with the serial number followed by the Koishikawa arsenal stamp. Receiver, barrel, barrel bands, trigger guard, and floorplate are blued, with the bolt and buttplate being in-the-white. No visible matching numbers. Rear barrel band is loose. CONDITION: Metal components retain pleasant amounts of their arsenal applied blue finish, with the exception of the rear barrel band, trigger guard, and floorplate, which has thinning and turned grey and brown patina. Buttplate shows areas of oxidation, with the bolt shows some age-related discoloration. Bore is dark, exhibiting oxidation and good rifling throughout. Stock shows numerous small dings and handling marks. (B) Japanese Murata Type 22 bolt action rifle manufactured in Japan between 1885-1905. The top of the barrel is marked with the Japanese chrysanthemum. The left and right sides of the receiver are marked with Kanji characters denoting the manufacturer and date of manufacture. No visible matching numbers. Left side of the buttstock is carved "DEM/ 144" with the right side being stamped with Kanji characters within a rectangle and within a circle. CONDITION: Metal components retain generous amounts of arsenal applied blue finish, showing scattered areas of wear and thinning. Buttplate has been sanded and retains some areas of oxidation. Bore exhibits oxidation and retains fair rifling throughout. Stock show numerous dings and handling marks. -MLW-
