American, Oct 7, 1938 (date stamp on doll). Works Progress Administration. Molded stockinette face with painted features, pink cheeks, original bobbed black yarn hair, cloth body with tabbed arms and unique hip joints (stain on one arm, light overall soil, light wear on face), original red and white cotton dress with matching panties, shoes and socks, tan cotton cape and hat. Body stamped “Milwaukee WPA Handicraft Project #7040, Sponsored by Milwaukee County and Milwaukee State Teachers College.” Along with a miniature cedar chest with an original wardrobe, some items stamped “Designed by Helen Clark, Milwaukee WPA Handicraft Project Sponsored by Milwaukee County and Milwaukee State Teachers College.” Turquoise cotton dress and matching panty (marked), red checked dress, short red coat, turquoise dress with rust trim (marked), green and white pajamas and blue and white pajamas (both marked).

Condition: (Very Good).
