A rarer variation of the classic drilling rifle that uses a small .22 LR barrel inlaid on right side of the over-under barrels should one run across a rabbit while looking for birds. Bead front sight with pop-up mid rifle sight on machine matted rib, "VINZ URBAS FERLACH" inlaid in silver in a reserve, barrels marked "BOHLER (Lightning bolts) STAHL" and light engraving at breech, various diagnostic proofs on underside, sling eye soldered on bottom barrel. Extractors. Forearm with Deely release and skipline checkered, tip of horn. Exterior of iron engraved with florals and scroll. Over-under blitz action engraved throughout with florals and geometrics with game scene on left depicting a trio of rabbits, right side with pheasant, underside with a bird mid-call. Double rolled edge trigger guard. Pistol grip stock with skipline checkering at wrist, vacant brass shield at toe. Sidepanels with horn teardrops. Spine of stock with inlaid horn decoration. Horn buttplate. Import marked for Simpson Ltd, Galesburg, Illinois, on frame. CONDITION: Fine, retaining the vast majority of finishes with just a few minor marks from handling and operation throughout. Wood is very fine with a few minor marks from handling throughout. Engraving is crisp. Rifle action needs some attention as it will not articulate; shotgun action work appropriately when cycled by hand. Bores are very good, .22 LR barrel with strong rifling. Shotgun bores smooth. A neat example of a rarely seen "rib" drilling. EW
