Remington New Model 1858 Navy percussion revolver with .36 caliber bore, 7 - 3/8" full octagon barrel, and screw-in front sight post with exposed threads at breech. Serial number 28255. Plain walnut grips. Patent date on top flat of barrel reads "PATENTED [month and day missing] 1858" / "E. REMINGTON & SONS, ILION, NEW YORK, U.S.A." / "NEW MODEL." Rear of trigger guard on right side stamped with a "B" inspector marking. Rear of cylinder marked "K" and "14." No safety notches on cylinder. CONDITION: Good, with most of the finish turned to a grey-brown patina with heavy freckling throughout. Trigger guard has turned to a mustard patina. Grips are good with heavy handling marks, gouges, and chips (especially at bottom). Action works correctly and locks tightly. Bore has darkness at muzzle and deep corrosion with visible rifling. -TN-
