Vintage pair of 12 bore game guns were built in 1905. The pair has 27 - 7/8" sleeved (in 1984) barrels with ejectors, third fastener, smooth game concave ribs, brass round bead front sights. Barrels read "NEW SLEEVED BARRELS BY JOHN DICKSON & SON." "JAMES MACNAUGHTON & SONS, 30 HANOVER STREET EDINBURGH & PERTH." The ribs are also number engraved "1" & "2" with a bit of floral scroll just behind near breech. Nice, vintage cast off reddish brown smoky fiddleback stocks with sharp checkering, English straight grips as well as on their checkered butts. Stocks also have gold ovals with bird on branch with leaf in its beak and reads "ALTA PETIT". Matching splinter forends with Anson styled releases and sharp checkering. Bright coin colored rounded boxlock actions with third bite are scalloped and engraved with light scroll with "MACNAUGHTON & SONS." in a bar. Actions also have double triggers protected by blued trigger guards, blacked top levers and very unique blued automatic swing safes. Bottom actions also appear to be a solid piece of steel that extends itself as the gun's long bottom strap. Pair comes with 2 sets of nickel plated snap caps. CONDITION: Good. (A/1) Barrels retain 92% of a 1984 new black from sleeving with various small handling marks. Bores are shiny. (A/1) Stock is in good condition with some handling marks - checkering at bottom of grip has been bruised. (A/1) Forend is in good condition with chip on left side near tip and a small amount of bruising near forend iron. (A/1) Action is mechanically sound and on face. Action has virtually no color left from its original case colors.(B/2) Barrels retain 90% of a 1984 new black due to sleeving with various handling marks. Bores are bright.
