Lot consists of: (A) Wallace & Co half stock fowler. Browned Damascus barrel with star over breech, hooked patent breech with platinum blowout. Back action lock with waterfowl hunting scene. Small bead front sight. Trigger guard and fish form cock engraved with florals; pineapple finial. Lock signed "WALLACE & CO" under cock. Long barrel tang engraved en suite. Buttplate with heel engraved en suite. Ramrod, possibly the original, retained by three ferrules with reinforced mouth. Horn forearm tip. Checkered in point pattern at wrist. CONDITION: Very good. Gun has a thick coat of preservative (cosmoline or equivalent) to protect it. Retains much of the reapplied brown on barrel with attractive Damascus visible, with a few dings and areas of old inactive oxidation. Stock is very good with normal bumps and bruises throughout and a few areas of oil darkening. Extra coat of varnish has been applied to stock. Action works appropriately, bore looks very good but has thick areas of preservative that obscure. (B) Pratt half stock fowler. Browned octagon to round barrel with intercepting faceted section and double wedding rings at girdle. Flat percussion lock with fishform hammer and platinum blowout. Ramrod retained by three ferrules, reinforced at mouth. Patent breech with engraved dog's head, lock with dog chasing woodcock, scroll on cock, lock, tang. Trigger guard with marsh scene and birds (ducks?) in flight. Checkered in point pattern at wrist. Buttplate with long tang. Silver forearm tip. CONDITION: Good. Gun has been coated in a similar fashion to (A). Barrel with a few areas of old inactive oxidation, and two significant dings on left side of barrel. Engraving is good with some areas obscured by old pitting. Stock very good as refreshed with one tight crack under forearm measuring approximately 4", one crack under lock and running to trigger guard, and one repair at wrist that runs through. Action works appropriately when cycled by hand, bore is very good with even oxidation throughout. A nice lot of fowlers. EW
