Lot consists of: (A) Springfield Model 1873 Trapdoor rifled musket with breechblock marked "US Model 1878". Blued round rifled barrel with blade front sight and adjustable yardage "R" marked sight. Blued lock with eagle and "US Springfield". Walnut stock with two barrel bands, "SWP 1884" cartouche and "US" marked buttplate. Steel ramrod and sling swivels. CONDITION: 80% fading blue with light surface blemishes. 70% original varnish with good cartouche. Stock has dings and marks in forend and on buttstock. Good bore and mechanics. (B) Whitneyville 1861 Navy rifle (aka Plymouth rifle) made by Whitney Arms Company in New Haven, Connecticut with 10,000 made between 1861 and 1864. In the white finished rifled barrel original .69 caliber with blade front sight and adjustable yardage rear sight with bayonet attachment. Percussion lock dated 1863 with large eagle and flag with "US Whitneyville" walnut stock with steel furniture including finger spur style trigger guard, two barrel bands, and "US" marked buttplate. Comes with original steel ramrod. CONDITION: Good but heavily used condition with metal parts having a surface pitted silvery patina. Wood has been cleaned with heavy usage marks and dings. Dark bore with worn rifling. Good mechanics. DLM
