Percussion cavalry carbines with captive swivel ramrods, wedge-retained round smoothbore barrels and fixed rear sights, produced for the East India Company, both with the E.I.C Rampant Lion on the locks. Originally blued, with brass furniture and walnut stocks. (A) Sling bar removed, and stock filled where mounts and escutcheon were originally. Barrel with London private proofs, brass mountings. CONDITION: Good with substantial wear, wood replaced in sling bar mounts. Barrel heavily oxidized with a thick brown patina. Bore in similar condition with scattered pitting. Lock mechanically functional, brass with a dull golden color. Bore good with scattered pitting and oxidation as well as a coating of Cosmoline. Stock with heavy wear, scattered bumps, dings, and mars as well as some chips and wood missing around the lock mortise. Ramrod will not seat completely in the channel. Heavy traces of Cosmoline throughout. (B) Sling bar removed, and stock filled where mounts and escutcheon were originally, no sling swivels present. London commercial proofs at breech. CONDITION: Good with substantial wear, wood replaced in sling bar mounts. Barrel heavily oxidized with a thick brown patina. Bore in similar condition with scattered pitting and a coating of Cosmoline. Lock mechanically functional, brass with a dull golden color. Stock with heavy wear, scattered bumps, dings, and mars as well as some chips and wood missing around the lock mortise and at the upper wedge on the reverse. Heavy traces of Cosmoline throughout. TP
