Transitional configuration, at first appearing as a standard 98k, however with a hole through the bottom of the buttplate as found on later Kriegsmodel guns. Matching numbers, only found on the barrel and bolt parts. Rough finished laminated stock with a faint but visible inspectors mark on the right side. Marked "bcd/ 4" on the top of the receiver. 5 digit, high serial number without a letter suffix. Gun features a proper mix of phosphate and blued parts. Front sight hood is original and in matching condition to the gun, the cleaning rod appears to be a replacement. CONDITION: Retains most of the original phosphate finish on the barreled receiver, having dulled and browned in areas with age. The muzzle end of the barrel is a dark brown patina. Some rust here and there with areas of minor pitting on the bolt handle. Cupped buttplate has old rust on it and is mostly a brown color. Blued parts retain a fair amount of finish with some rust. The floorplate appears to have been cleaned. Stock is fine with dings and handling marks. Bore is fine with sharp rifling. Fine mechanical function. GR
