Lot consist of: (A) Japanese Type 99 bolt action rifle. Made by subcontractor Tokyo Kogyo in the early 1940's. This is a scarce "Concentric Circles" rifle that has two circles in place of the mum. These rifles were thought to have been reworked standard Type 99 rifles for military police organizations such as the Kempei Tai. Serial number was factory altered to "2", backing the theory that this is a standard, reworked Type 99 rifle. Other serialized parts are numbered "2", such as the bayonet lug, safety knob, and bolt handle. Dust cover and firing pin are not numbered. Retains original mono-pod and anti-aircraft sights. Original military blued finish and oil finished two piece butt stock. Stamped steel buttplate. CONDITION: Metal retains 90% of its original finish with a few areas of wear. Stock is very good with normal dings and scratches. There is a deep gouge above the trigger guard on the right hand side, and a hairline crack above the front band. Bore is clean, fair rifling. Mechanically fine. (B) Japanese Type 99 bolt action rifle. Made early 1940's at Kokura (looks to be series 22). Full chrysanthemum and anti aircraft sights and straight leg mono-pod. Serials on the receiver, bayonet lug, bolt handle and dust cover all match. Assembly numbers on the firing pin and safety knob match. Original blued finish on all metal components and original oil finish on the wood stock. Stamped metal buttplate. Includes original leather sling with Japanese characters on the inside. CONDITION: Metal retains 95% of its original finish with a few handling marks. Wood is excellent with minor handling marks. Bore has a shine with overall good rifling. Mechanically fine. (C) Japanese Type 44 bolt action carbine. Made at Tokyo arsenal (Koishikawa) sometime in the 1920's, noted by its first variation bayonet assembly and "S" proof on the barrel shank. Ground chrysanthemum. Rifle is completely mis-matched. Original blued finish with the bolt left in the white. Oil finished 2-piece wood stock with trap door metal buttplate for holding a cleaning rod. CONDITION: Metal retains 85% of its original finish with some handling marks and wear. Very good stock with minor dents, scratches and gouges. Bore is frosted, with fair rifling. Mechanically fine. JWA
