Lot consists of: (A) Peabody Martini rifled single-shot musket made by Providence Tool Company for use by the Government of Switzerland circa 1867. Curiously made without any production marks. Blued round barrel marked with "(cross) / V" proof of Swiss government. Blade front sight and adjustable rear. Blued frame with no markings. Casehardened lever, hammer, and breechblock. Walnut plain buttstock and forearm held with 2 barrel bands and marked with regimental racking marks. Comes with leather sling and steel ramrod. CONDITION: 60% original factory finish with fading colors and blue. Traces of original varnish with light scratches and dings. Good bore and mechanics. (B) Burnside 3rd Model Carbine made by the Burnside rifle Co., Providence, Rhode Island with around 1,500 made in 1862. Round rifled barrel with blade front sight and rear flip sight marked "Cast Steel". Case hardened percussion action with saddle ring bar marked "Burnside Rifle Co/Providence=R.I." and breech marked "Burnside's Patent/March 25th 1856". Walnut wood stock with crescent steel buttplate. Walnut forearm with single steel barrel band. CONDITION: Poor condition with added coat of stock finish. Crack from sling swivel to butt with forearm missing slivers of wood. Metal turning dark with some surface pitting. Dark bore with visible rifling and good mechanics. DLM
