Lot consists of (A) Nepalese Gahendra Martini rifle, manufactured in Nepal under supervision of General Gahendra Rana in the 1880's. These rifles were manufactured to equip the Gurkhas. The top of the receiver and bottom of the loading lever bare Nepali markings, but otherwise no markings are present. Rear sight graduations are in Nepali. CONDITION: Metal components retain the good amounts of their arsenal applied bluing, showing patina through areas of wear, as well as some areas of light oxidation. Bore retains a thick layer of cosmoline, but appears to retain good rifling throughout. Wood components show scattered dings and handling marks. (B) Series 25 Type 38 rifle manufactured by Kokura arsenal. Receiver retains its chrysanthemum and the Kanji characters for "Type 38". Kanji characters present on bottom of stock. Matching numbers include the receiver, floorplate, bolt, safety knob, and dust cover. B.D.L. LTD import stamp under barrel behind muzzle. CONDITION: Metal components retain the vast majority of their arsenal applied blue finish, exhibiting few areas of wear and thinning. Bore is good, showing some small areas of pitting and retaining good rifling throughout. Stock shows numerous dings and handling marks. -MLW-
