This initial appearance of this Imperial German Naval Dirk is striking. Once in hand, anyone would appreciate the skill and effort that was given to produce a dagger of this caliber. The blade is a Damascus "Maiden Hair" pattern, with only a few minor areas of dark patina observed. The reverse side of the blades ricasso features the makers logo of a medieval knight representing the firm of "WKC". Moving up to the solid brass lower cross guard, a high quality fire gilding remains very much intact in the lower recesses of the hand enhanced anchor motif and additional features. The locking button on the cross guard is intact and functioning. The gilded wire wrapped "Bone" grip has developed a beautiful nicotine patina, which combined with the natural features of the bone, gives a pleasing appearance. The hollowed solid brass upper crown pommel cap has expertly hand enhanced features, as well as a high quality fire gilding remaining in the lower recesses. The Dirk's solid brass scabbard features hand enhanced details, and a high quality fire gilding. The scabbard's hanger rings are hand enhanced as well with laurel leaf motifs. No damage can be observed on the scabbard. CONDITION: Overall Excellent to Near Mint. D.W.
