Springfield Model 1903 bolt action rifle built by Remington Arms Company Ilion, New York in 1942. Blue-black finished barrel with "RA (flaming bomb) 6-42" and "P" on underside markings. Banded blade front sight with flip-up adjustable rear sight. Blue-black finish action with Remington marked receiver with "R" stamped swept back bolt. Walnut finger groove stock with "SA GAW" rebuild stamp in square block on left side of wrist with crossed cannons behind. "P" in circle stamp on grip with several over stamps. Humped handguard and correct top forend. Stock has "R" marked front bayonet band and "U" marked middle band. Blued milled trigger guard and smooth-faced buttplate. Comes with original style oiler in butt. Nice example of the last of the 1903's. CONDITION: 70% arsenal finish on metal surfaces with wear on corners. Wood has added coat of finish with heavy usage marks. Visible plugged hole in right side of stock. Parkerized buttplate possibly added at rebuild. Good bore with sharp lands and grooves with good mechanics. DLM
