c. 1895 to 1905. For one penny, watch the highly detailed wonderful female automaton - dressed in original period Victorian clothing - turn her head from one side to grab a fortune, and turn again to drop it down the chute for the customer to collect. She also pulls the lever with the other hand to dispense a fortune card. Truly an amazing machine to watch. The machine sits atop an older replacement stand. The marquee is a replacement, which is not uncommon For these machines. The back exterior panel is also a replacement and also not uncommon. The original case has had an older well-done refinish. The interior of this original machine is presented in exceptional condition with automaton figure having great surface patina with very minimal wear throughout. There is one hairline crack in cast-iron interior panel that dispenses the fortune card, but it is at the very bottom of the panel at the screw hole and is not offensive. Overall a wonderful example. Many reproductions of Madame Zita exist, but only very few originals survived and even fewer come to market. Working and with keys.
