1899 vintage Springfield Model 1898 Carbine, serial number 128178. 22" round barrel chambered in .30 Army (.30-40 Krag) with 1901 carbine sight and blade front. 1 piece plain walnut stock with single barrel band and flat military buttplate with butt trap (no cleaning rod present.) "Circle P" proofmark on bottom of grip with the letter "K" just ahead of it near rear of trigger guard. No visible cartouche. CONDITION: Very good with metal turning to a blue-gray patina on barrel. Receiver assembly is a dull-gray with traces of finish and fire bluing on fire blued parts in protected areas. Stocks are excellent as lightly sanded and refinished. Area around barrel band is severely damaged with dents and dings all around. Top of forearm is cracked all the way through. Action works correctly when cycled by hand.
