Pair of 4th Model Colt 1851 Navy revolvers serial numbers 142276 and 145073, made in 1863. Capping groove on right recoil shield. Large brass trigger guards and brass backstraps. 7-1/2" octagon barrels, chambered in .36 percussion. One-piece varnished walnut grips. Both revolvers hand-engraved in like fashion on backstrap: "CAPT. W.P. TUCKER. 1ST. IND CAV'Y" Captain W.P. Tucker mustered into the 1st Indiana Cavalry Company E, as a 2nd Lieutenant on August 20, 1861 in Crawford County Indiana. The 1st Indiana Cavalry, Company E saw action in Missouri and Arkansas including the battle to capture Little Rock Arkansas. CONDITION: Both revolvers are excellent with a pleasing brown patina overall. Strong traces of original silver on trigger guards and backstraps. Both revolvers have matching serial numbers on all major components including the wedges. Grips are excellent showing modest wear. Actions are tight and crisp. Bores are fine with strong rifling. Inscriptions are clear and legible. Very attractive pair of Civil War-era inscribed Colt revolvers. -MKS-
