Early 2nd. Model 1866 rifle, serial number 19748, manufactured late 1868. Henry marked 24" octagon barrel with full length magazine tube. Henry style fold down ladder rear sight graduated to 900 yards. German silver blade front sight. Plain straight grain walnut stock and forearm with brass rifle style crescent buttplate with trapdoor complete with correct four piece sectional cleaning rod. Forearm with brass cap. Sling swivels mounted to stock and forearm cap. CONDITION: Excellent overall. Brass receiver, forearm cap, and buttplate have a nice light mustard color patina showing modest wear with scattered light dents and dings. Lightly rounded corners and edges. Barrel and magazine tube have a pleasing overall blue/brown patina. Loading lever, and hammer mostly a brown patina. Wood is solid showing modest to heavy wear with a couple old repairs around the upper tang and a 3" section repaired at the stock toe. Bore is excellent, action functions properly. Overall, a totally original early Model 1866 with great eye appeal. -MKS-
