Single bead front sight on tapered concave machine matted rib, signed "V. CHR. SCHILLING / SUHL" near breeches. Breeches engraved with light florals and a small spray of acanthus. Doll's head rib extension. Sling eye soldered to bottom of rib. Barrel flats with diagnostic proofs for 12 gauge choked smoothbore barrels. Forearm with rotary underlever opener with detent. Checkered in point pattern throughout with smooth bored. Rotary lever with acanthus engraving and some minor scroll on exterior iron. Interior with serial number. Sidelock action engraved with scroll and geometrics, left plate with a doe in a forested scene, right side with a fox leaping after a pheasant. Indicators locked to a gold inlaid "GELADEN". Horn trigger guard. Pistol grip stock checkered in point pattern at wrist, with horn cap, sling swivel at toe, and hard rubber buttplate. Williams Jude leather sling. CONDITION: Very good. Barrel finish is toning throughout with some losses at high points and contact areas, and some areas of minor pitting. Forearm has a long sliver missing out of the border on right side and has had an extra layer of varnish applied, which has filled in some of the checkering. Action works appropriately when cycled by hand with cocking indicators moving appropriately. Stock is good, a touch dry, with buttplate replaced and some evidence of work being performed near the buttplate, including a grain separation on right side. Bores are good with some pitting throughout. EW
