Between 1863 and 1865, 11,471 M1860 Army Rifles were produced for military contracts. Fitted with 30" blued barrel with ladder rear sight and front sight that doubles as a lug for a socket bayonet. Case hardened receiver with lever action which feeds cartridges from a 7 round tube housed in the butt stock. Walnut stocks marked with partial cartouche above the wrist. Stock fixtures include 3 barrel bands, central band with sling swivel, replacement rear sling swivel on butt stock and trap butt plate. CONDITION: Good. Metal parts exhibit a gray patina with areas of older, light pitting. Stocks very good as sanded, partially obscuring the cartouche. A few scattered usage marks remain. Good bore with strong rifling.
