Standard 32-5/8" blued barrel chambered for .45-70 and marked with "V/P/(Eagle Head)" proofs. Blade front sight and rifle "R" marked buckhorn rear sight. Blued "US/SPRINGFIELD" and eagle marked lock, hammer and trigger guard. Case hardened receiver with faintly marked "US/Model/1873" low arch breechblock. Fitted with walnut stock marked with "SWP/1883" cartouche and circle "P" proof at wrist, "U" marked barrel bands, and "US" marked butt. Includes British marked Martini-Henry cleaning rod. CONDITION: Good. Metal portions of thinning original finish with majority exhibiting mellow brown patina with a few areas of light freckling. A number, possibly a rack number, is scratched into tang behind trigger guard. Stock is worn with numerous dings and scratches as expected with its military use. Fair, dark bore with corrosion visible. Mechanics crisp. BAS
