Single steel bead on tapered wide flat rib with machine matting and gold inlaid "1" over breech. Tight border engraving at breeches. Sling swivel on base soldered to underside of rib. Classic Collath mechanisms on underside with proofs for choked smoothbore barrels, breeches with Nitro proof. Collath forearm and horn rotary release, forearm checkered throughout, with small platform left smooth for lever. Inside of iron with serial number and fancy hand engraved "No. 10221 C 3" and Reichsadler and Crown U proofs. Engraved with line borders throughout on recoil shields, receiver, and down tang. Tang also with gold inlaid "1" and a gold buck over a crown and geometric designs. Collath wing safety. Right side of action signed "W. COLLATH" , left side signed "FRANKFURY a. O.". Horn trigger guard with double triggers, long trigger guard tang. Straight grip checkered in point pattern at wrist. Sling swivel at toe. Stock has been cut and had a black line spacer and a Pachmayr white line spacer added. CONDITION: Very good. Barrels retain most of an old toning reblue with a few very fine areas of oxidation visible and some losses at high points and where it contacts with forearm and receiver. Forearm is very good with some bumps and bruises from light field work, case colors on interior have largely faded but a few can still be seen. Stock is very good but there are numerous separations in the grain. Some checkering shows areas of abrasion and chipped heads. Tang has a filled area, possibly where a sling swivel was moved. Action works appropriately when cycled by hand, bores are good with some pitting throughout. EW
