Cape gun configuration with shotgun barrel on left and rifled barrel on right. Bead front sight on machine matted rib. Horizontally dovetailed notch rear sight, claw scope mounts with a 2 - 1/2x fixed power long eye relief Redfield duplex scope. Light engraving at breech. Underside of barrels with 1939 era diagnostic proofs. Collath horn rotary underlever opener, inside of forearm with serial number stamped and fancily engraved "No 11570 C 4 9.3x65" along with Crown / U and eagle proof. Receiver and forearm tip engraved throughout with German oak leaves, left side of receiver with a vignette of a hunting dog in a wooded scene and "W. Collath" in a vertical ribbon, right side with a fox in a similar scene and "FRANKFURT A/O" in vertical ribbon. Horn trigger guard of sweeping Germanic with double triggers, front set for rifle. Collath wing safety. Wrist checkered in point pattern. Sling swivels at toe and on screwed on base on underside of rib. Horn buttplate. CONDITION: Good. Barrels retaining much of their finish with a few minor spots of oxidation in a few areas. Some losses at contact points with receiver and some of the higher edges. Barrels are very good, rifling is visible but softened in the rifle barrel and both barrels have some oxidation. Glass is very good, clear. Engraving is very good and crisp. Forearm is very good with a few bumps and bruises but no discernible cracks. Rotary lever with a small opening in the horn, trigger guard has an old split that has been repaired by reinforcing it with a small pin. Stock has several chips and slivers missing where it meets action as well as some areas of lifting. There is an old repaired crack at the wrist, both sides. Pressure marks and bruises throughout commensurate with field use. Stock has had an extra layer of varnish applied. Action works appropriately. EW
