Spencer Repeating Sporting rifle built by Spencer Repeating Rifle Co. Boston, Massachusetts between 1865 and 1869. Less than 2000 produced. Blued round rifled barrel with dovetailed front blade sight and rear flip sight graduated to 800 yards. Case hardened receiver serial numbered "1011" with barrel having same serial number under forearm. Rifle has a set trigger and tang Vernier flip sight. Walnut plain stock with case hardened buttplate. Walnut plain forearm with steel nose cap. CONDITION: Metal turning a silvery patina with rear sight being a replacement. Small block in front of tang sight seems to be a replacement. Set trigger is missing set screw. Wood has aged finish with repaired crack on right side of the tang. Shootable bore with some light pits. Good mechanics except for set trigger. DLM
