Remington "Zouave Rifle" made from 1862 to 1865 by E. Remington and Sons Ilion, New York. Blued 3 grooved rifled barrel with saber bayonet lug on right side near muzzle. Blade front sight with 3 flip up notch sights. 1863 dated barrel with "VP" and "Eagle head" Proof with "R.K.A." and "STEEL" markings on left side of breech. Blued percussion lock dated 1863 with "(Eagle) U.S." and "Remington's Ilion, New York" markings. Walnut full military stock with brass furniture including "US" marked buttplate and brass two piece patchbox with extra nipple provision (nipple missing). Stock has boxed cartouches behind lock bolts with the initials "HDJ" and "H". Original tulip head steel ramrod and cork and brass barrel protector. CONDITION: Overall great condition with 70% plus original finish. Good bore with highly visible rifling and great mechanics. DLM
