Lot consist of: (A) Colt 1878 double action revolver. Made 1899. Round, steel barrel being from a different gun and being marked "COLT BUNTLINE SPECIAL 44-40" on the left side. "COLT's PT.F.A. MFG. CO. HARTFORD. CT. U.S.A." is marked on the top of the barrel. Ejector rod is also not original to the gun. Reapplied finish on the frame and cylinder. Colt hard rubber grips. Lanyard stud and ring are present drilled into the butt. CONDITION: Metal retains little of its reapplied finish with wear and handling marks. Grips have light wear to the checkering. Bore is shiny with crisp rifling. Tight hammer. Cylinder has side to side movement. Cylinder gap needs adjustment. Timing looks good. Mechanically operable. (B) Colt 1878 double action revolver. Made 1883. Unmarked, minus "45 CAL" on the top of the trigger guard, and the serial number (10780) on the butt. Round, steel barrel with blade front sight. Metal has been scrubbed of markings, and looks to have a reapplied nickel finish. Brown, hard rubber Colt grips. CONDITION: Metal retains little to none of its original finish with wear and patina. Grips have light wear. Bore is lightly frosted with good overall rifling. Hammer is tight. Cylinder has heavy movement. Timing is fair. Trigger reset will need work. Mechanically operable. JWA
