Remington Model 1863 percussion rifled musket known as the "Zouave" made between 1862 and 1865. 7 groove rifled blued barrel with lug for saber bayonet, blade front sight, and blued flip 2 leaf rear sight. Barrel marked with "VP" and "Eagle Head" proof, dated 1863 and marked on left breech "STEEL R.K.A.". Case hardened percussion lock dated 1863 with "Federal Eagle US" and "Remington's Ilion, N.Y.". Walnut full military stock with brass furniture including brass 2 piece patchbox with extra nipple inside, 2 barrel bands marked with a "U" and brass nosepiece. "BH" in box inspector's mark behind lock screws. Comes with original tulip head steel ramrod. CONDITION: Overall good condition with 60% original fading barrel blue, 30% fading case colors, traces of original stock finish and brass having a golden patina appearance. Good shootable bore with good mechanics. DLM
