Made famous by John Wilkes Booth's assassination of Abraham Lincoln. Back action lock stamped "DERINGER / PHILADEL" and decorated with simple scroll. Fishform hammer. German silver front sight and simple notch sight, patent breech with double German silver bands with "DERINGER / PHILADELA" and "P" proof. German silver mounts lightly engraved. False rifled barrel for easier detachment of barrel. CONDITION: Metal has acquired a pleasing patina throughout with some softness to legends as a result. Engraving on German silver is crisp. Barrel largely dove grey with splotchy areas of darkness. Action works appropriately when cycled by hand, bore is good with some old oxidation throughout. Checkering is smooth from use. EW
