Lot consists of: (A) Springfield Model 1863 rifled musket dated 1864. In-the-white round barrel with blade front sight and rear flip sight. Barrel dated 1864 with "VP" and Eagle head proofs near breech. Percussion lock with "1864" date, lock marked "US Springfield / (Eagle)" and "(Eagle)" on bolster. Walnut full military stock with cartouches on left and "US" marked buttplate. Comes with original steel ramrod. CONDITION: Gun has been heavily cleaned with marks and dings from usage. Gun also appears to be a mixture of original and modern reproduction parts. Great bore and mechanics. (B) 1860 Cavalry Saber made by Ames Chicopee, Massachusetts and dated 1863. Blade marked with "A.D.K." for Andrew D. King an Army sub-inspector with "U.S." and "1863" on right side near guard and "Ames Mfg. Co. Chicopee, Mass" on left near guard. Brass guard with "A.D.K." marked on butt with "27M 12C" on bow of guard (possible unit markings?). Steel 2-lanyard ring scabbard with "G.W.C." on scabbard on tip protector. CONDITION: Original polished finish with unmolested blade. Guard exhibits golden patina with leather-covered handle showing some flaking with intact wirework. Scabbard has silvery patina appearance with no dents or damage. A nice clean sword. DLM
