Model 1841 U.S. Percussion Rifle made at Harper's Ferry in 1853. Browned round rifled barrel with a brass blade front sight and notched rear sight dated on tang 1853 and no bayonet provision. Harper's Ferry marked percussion lock dated 1853 with "(Eagle) / U.S." and "Harper's Ferry" markings. Walnut full military stock with brass hardware including usual 2-piece patchbox with provision for extra nipple and engraved on lid with owner's initials "J.E.G.". Comes with brass tipped steel ramrod with trumpet-shaped head and reproduction leather sling. CONDITION: Overall good with some restoration. Wood has been cleaned with added forestock from lock to last barrel band. Crack in wood behind lock. Nipple is new replacement. Hammer has been welded with replaced screw. Brass has been polished. Missing extra nipple and worm. Shootable bore with good mechanics. A good entry-level or display gun. DLM
