Lot of 2: (A) U.S. Model 1836 Martial pistol made by R. Johnson of Middletown, Connecticut still in original flintlock condition with 1842 dated lock. 8 - 1/2" round barrel in .54 caliber with 1 piece plain walnut stock. "WAT" oval cartouche on left side of stock denoting inspection by William Anderson Thornton who inspected U.S. Martial arms from 1840-1861 with "JCB" sub inspector marking. CONDITION: Very good, with metal parts bright with moderate wear and moderate to heavy pitting throughout. Stock and cartouche are excellent and strong. Action works correctly and locks tightly. Bore is bright and excellent. (B) U.S. Model 1836 Martial pistol made by A. Waters of Milbury, Mass. that was restored to flintlock likely by a professional. 8 - 1/2" round barrel in .54 caliber with 1 piece walnut stock. Cartouches on left side are faint and indistinct. CONDITION: Good, with metal parts turned to a brown patina with moderate to heavy pitting overall. Stock is very good as lightly sanded. Action shows significant wear but appears to work correctly. Bore is dark with heavy corrosion. -TN-
