Colt Model 1855 Half stock revolving sporting rifle with 5 shot fluted cylinder made from 1857 to 1864 this one serial number 1759. Blued octagon to round rifled barrel with unique brass blade front sight and looks like blacksmith made rear notch sight. Blued frame with folding ramrod and added steel ramrod. Walnut stock has been period replaced with a piece of curly maple with Kentucky rifle brass buttplate and forearm with a plain piece of walnut. Gun has undergone repairs which look to be done by a frontier gunsmith or blacksmith. Unique piece. CONDITION: Gun has seen hard use with topstrap having a period repair and stock being a frontier replacement. Gun functions fine and has some added out of the period finish. Bore is rough, but action functions fine. Front ramrod pipe is loose. DLM
